Rooney mocks Micheal Owen On Twitter

Michael Owen is trying to endear himself to Liverpool supporters again in retirement but Wayne Rooney isn't taking that from him.

Owen always wanted a return to Anfield after he left for Real Madrid in 2004 but was denied by the Rafael Benitez before making a shocking move to Man Utd.

His three years at United were predictably plagued by injuries and Owen spent around 13 months sidelined during his three seasons at
Old Trafford.

United supporters did not treat Owen to a welcome at Wembley for the Community Shield and he underlined his Liverpool allegiance by tweeting ahead of their Saturday win over West Brom: "Come on Red Men. A win by two goals and it's 'top of the league'."

Rooney, out of United's game with Chelsea, replied: "Interesting this Michael I thought you was a united fan???"

Owen wanted to justify his post by referring to Rooney's boyhood team, Everton: "Naughty
Wayne Rooney! Always want my old teams to win but Liverpool are my first love. What about you? Once a Blue always a Blue? :-)"

More effective on Twitter than on the pitch this season, Rooney reminded Owen who his 'first love' really was: "Ok sorry mate I actually thought you was an Everton fan as a kid but I was obviously wrong if Liverpool was your 1st love."
